A New Chapter

Welcome to ArizonaSportsCast.com!

My name is Ralph Amsden, and for the last seven years I’ve covered high school and college sports in the state of Arizona. I got my start in 2012 by founding a multimedia website dedicated to covering prep sports in Chandler, Arizona (CTownRivals.com), and as the site’s audience and traffic rapidly grew, I realized my team and I might be able to use the same formula to cover high school football across the entire state. After one year of running AZHSFootball.com, I was picked up by the local Rivals high school sports affiliate, ArizonaVarsity.com, as well as the Rivals Arizona State affliliate, DevilsDigest.com. I eventually assumed ownership of Arizona Varsity, and remain serving in a publisher role, and in my four years at Devil’s Digest, I served as Managing Editor, Lead Recruiting Analyst, wrote regular columns, and developed a podcast called The Devil’s Junkie.

Some of the opportunities afforded to me over the last few years, especially the appearances on Brad Denny and Joe Healey’s Speak of the Devils Podcast, the television spots for Tyler Baldwin’s Varsity Zone on KTVK, as well as the guest columns I’ve been able to write for Brad Cesmat’s Sports360AZ.com, helped me define and refine exactly what it is that I want to be doing in this space.

ArizonaSportsCast is a project that was born out of a passion for writing and talking about Arizona sports.

I’m in the early stages of developing several podcasts, covering topics from Arizona State athletics, to Pac-12 football, to the Phoenix Suns’ glory days, and much more. My hope is that I can bring a fresh, unfiltered, and entertaining perspective to some of the topics you care about most, with regular contributions from some of the many talented media members I’ve been able to meet along the way.

Stay tuned for more in the near future, and for business/support inquiries, to pitch me on an idea, or to do anything other than send me pineapple-on-pizza memes, email me at ralph.amsden@gmail.com.
